Heat spell has wrought havoc. Fire had been raining from the skies. One feels almost being surrounded by flames.
What more lies in coming days is difficult to predict.
As per reports nearly 210 people have fallen victim to this unbearable heat spell.
Eighty four poll workers on duty have lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh alone.
The places where these tragedies took place include Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Gorakhpur, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Chandauli, Raibareily, Kushinagar. Among the dead include policemen.
The manner in which people have been dying could be assessed by sudden three fold increase in the number of dead bodies being brought at the two main cremation grounds.
Bodies are cremated at couple of other places also along the course of Gaga river in Allahabad.
There are reports of twenty-one deaths in the countryside while eight city dwellers gave lost lives to this current heat spell.
There are reports of twelve poll personnel dying during duty in the neighbouring state of Bihar.
