Only the other day was news of Rs 100 crore unearthed from the house of a retired IAS officer Mohinder Singh in Chandigarh by the Enforcement Directorate.
And now there’s another IAS officer from whose house Rs 50 Crore reportedly has been stolen. This IAS officer lives in a hilltop bungalow in the picturesque hills of Nainital,
What is more perplexing is the absence of any formal FIR in this case of the alleged theft of tons of cash. The officer and sources close to him are maintaining a studied silence ostensibly to avoid questioning by the ED and other investigative agencies.
The incident came to light following a report published in a prominent Lucknow-based newspaper which revealed that the cash was stolen from the majestic mansion of the former IAS officer who had earlier worked in Uttar Pradesh on high assignments and was considered a powerful bureaucrat.
If the sources are correct, the authorities were investigating the big theft discreetly.
The news is buzzing on social media platforms and the identity of the officer is being speculated. Some sources even claimed they knew who the officer is but were not opening up as it could put them in a tight corner if the officer refused to acknowledge any theft.
Since there is no FIR
the authorities concerned and individuals surrounding this case are also tight-lipped. But this silence is only increasing public interest. Everybody wants to know the name of this officer in the public domain.
