A Blessing Received, Yet Destiny Unchanged: The Consequence of Ignoring Opportunity in the Light of Astrology

By Asutosh Varshney

Astrology teaches that elements such as muhurat (auspicious timing), planetary periods (dasha), transits (gochar), and yogas (planetary combinations) indicate the arrival of opportunities in life.

However, if a person fails to recognize the movement of time and the guidance offered by the planets, opportunities slip away even when they are placed directly into one’s hands.

To understand this principle, an ancient story offers a powerful lesson.

The Tale of Three Wishes and Lost Fortune

Once, a poor man received a divine blessing. Pleased with his devotion, a deity appeared before him and said: Take this dice. Whatever three wishes you ask while throwing it three times, will be granted.”

Overflowing with joy, the man hurried home and discussed the gift with his wife, asking what they should wish for.

The wife advised, “Ask for wealth and prosperity.”

But the husband disagreed and said: Look, both of us have flat noses. People often mock and laugh at us. So for the first wish, we must ask for beautiful noses.”

His wife protested strongly, arguing that wealth was more important at that moment. A heated debate erupted between the two.

Angered and unable to control himself, the man impulsively threw the dice while shouting: Beautiful nose! Beautiful nose! Beautiful nose!”

To their shock, the wish manifested literally—and he suddenly grew three noses on his face. Horrified, he realized the disaster that had unfolded.

Desperate to undo the mistake, he threw the dice a second time, saying: Let these noses disappear!”

The wish worked—but along with the extra noses, his original nose vanished too.

Now only one wish remained. The man thought: If I now ask to replace my flat nose with a beautiful one, people will surely notice the change and ask how it happened.

Then they will discover everything, mock our foolishness, and say that even with three rare divine blessings, we could not improve our lives.”

Fearing humiliation, he finally threw the dice and asked only to get back his old flat nose.

Thus, all three valuable blessings that could have changed the direction of his life were wasted due to impatience, anger, poor judgment, and wrong timing.

The Moral

Success is the result of right action taken at the right time.
If one does not act wisely when destiny offers support, one cannot blame the astrologer, planetary periods, or lack of luck.

When planets favor an individual and when timing aligns with effort and discernment, only then does success manifest.

Those who fail to understand the rhythm of time lose even the greatest fortune placed before them. People who lack patience, understanding, and foresight squander their opportunities without realizing their value.

Conclusion

Astrology does not guarantee success—it only signals the moment.
Achievement belongs to those who recognize the moment and act with wisdom.
