Justice Sanjay Kumar Singh admitted the bail application of Azam Khan former minister during samajwadi party government, his wifeTazeen Fatma and son Abdulla Azam.

The court has also stayed the conviction of Azam Khan.

The order was passed on the criminal review petition of Azam Khan.

Earlier, the court after hearing both sides had reserved it’s order on May 14.

On behalf of the state the advocate general Ajay Kumar Misra had pleaded in the case. Besides, additional AG PC Srivastava and state counsels AK Singh and JK Upadhya had also placed arguments in this much publicised political case.

Senior supreme court lawyer Kapil Sibal had also appeared on behalf of Khan family.

To recall, the special MP/MLA court Rampur had granted seven year jail term to Azam Khan and his family in the case for submitting two birth certificates.

The issue dates back to 2017 when Azam’s son was elected to the state assembly from swar assembly constituency on samajwadi party ticket.

An election petition was filed and subsequently the high court declared Abdullah’s candidature as null and void. He could not get any relief from the supreme court.

Abdullah’s age as mentioned in the educational certificate is Jan 1, 1993 whereas in the nagar Nigam certificate it is sept 30, 1993.
