This wooden piece was found to be 35 kg in weight. This has raised the concerns of the railways.
The incident happened on the Kanpur Kasganj track at 11.30 pm Friday night. The passenger train was heading on a speed of 90 km per hour when the driver spotted a big wooden log on the track and used emergency brakes to stop the train and avert derailment.
The alertness of the driver Manje Kumar saved the lives of several passengers travelling in the train. A case of sabotaging has been lodged under the Railway Act.
Police, Railway Protection Force, and GRP have swung into action and are trying to find out who committed this crime.
