Gorakhpur — Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday cautioned young people against what he described as the two biggest threats facing the youth today.
Drug abuse and addiction to mobile or smartphone usage.
Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the 93rd Foundation Week of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad, held at the Mahayogi Gorakhnath University’s Arogyadham auditorium, the Chief Minister said that avoiding these addictions is crucial not only for personal growth but also for the country’s future.
Welcoming the chief guest, Uttarakhand Governor Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Yogi Adityanath underscored the growing danger posed by excessive screen dependence.
He urged students to remain disciplined and maintain balance, warning that digital addiction can quietly erode productivity, focus, and mental well-being.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister stressed the need for heightened vigilance within academic institutions.
He said that drug syndicates are constantly attempting to lure young people, and educational campuses must remain alert to these threats.
“Youth must prepare themselves for a new kind of battle,” he said. “The enemies of the nation are always looking for ways to infiltrate society through addiction and distractions. We must not give them that chance.”
A New Technological Era Requires a Focused Mind
CM Yogi reflected on the rapid global shift toward advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and robotics.
He said India’s youth have immense potential to lead in this new technological era—but only if they remain focused, disciplined, and free from destructive habits.
He emphasized that the coming decade will belong to nations with skilled, emotionally resilient, and tech-savvy youth, and urged educational institutions to strengthen awareness campaigns and preventive mechanisms against addiction.
