The anti terrorist squad special court has found sixteen persons guilty of converting people of other faiths to Islam.
The gang headed by one Muhammad Umar Gautam hailing from Fatehpur was involved in converting deaf and dumb, poor, women and marginalised children to Islam.
The gang also lured people to become Muslim by offering them jobs.
If convicted their sentence could range from ten years to life imprisonment.
The ATS had been working on this case since long after getting tipped off that this gang was involved in anti bational activities and had been brainwashing people to accept Islam.
The members werecalso spreading hatred against followers of other religions to create unrest in society.
During interrogation the gang members and their leader admitted that they had converted around 1000 persons of other faiths to Islam by telling them that , Islam was the greatest religion in the world and preached hatred against others.
