Seventy and plus aged persons in the country will get free treatment up to Rs five lakh henceforth.
The Union Cabinet has given its nod to this free treatment under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
The union cabinet minister Ashwani Vaishnav following the meeting said, six crore senior citizens belonging to 4.5 crore families, irrespective of their economic conditions will get health insurance coverage upto five lakh rupees. Earlier, older people from all categories had not been included in this scheme.
The beneficiaries will be provided with a health card.
Seventy and above citizens who represent families that were enjoying benefits of this scheme will get a top up cover card of availing the yearly benefit. However, they will not be able to share this card with those members of families who were less than seventy.
