Ayodhya to Unveil World’s First Ramayan-Themed Wax Museum During Deepotsav

As part of this year’s Deepotsav celebrations on the eve of Diwali, Ayodhya is set to open the world’s first Ramayan-themed wax museum, offering visitors an immersive journey through the epic tale of Lord Ram.

The museum will be inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on October 19, officials confirmed.

Spread over 9,850 square feet on Chaudah Kosi Parikrama Marg, the museum has been built for Rs 6 crore and features 50 lifelike wax statues portraying iconic characters such as Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Hanuman, Ravan, and Vibhishan, among others.

Beyond showcasing individual personalities, the museum brings key episodes of the Ramayan to life, creating an educational and cultural experience for visitors of all ages.

The two-story museum is designed to accommodate 100 visitors at a time.

On the ground floor, visitors will witness the journey of Lord Ram from his childhood to the celebrated Sita Swayamvar, capturing the innocence, devotion, and grandeur of these early events.

The first floor takes visitors through the epic’s pivotal chapters, including Lord Ram’s exile, Sita’s abduction, the Lanka Dahan, and the climactic battle between Ram and Ravan.

Advanced 3D light and visual effects enhance these displays, offering a dynamic experience that vividly brings the episodes of exile, Hanuman burning Lanka, and Ravan’s defeat to life.

A unique feature of the museum is a “special selfie point” located beside the wax statue of Ram Lalla, allowing devotees and tourists to capture memorable moments.

Entry to the museum will be Rs 100 per person, making it accessible to a wide audience while contributing to local development.

The museum is a collaborative initiative with the Ayodhya Municipal Corporation, which will receive 12% of the revenue generated from ticket sales, ensuring that the attraction also benefits the local civic infrastructure.

Constructed by the Kerala-based Sunil Wax Museum, the firm brings extensive experience, having previously established wax museums in Lonavala (Maharashtra) and Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala).

Officials hope that this museum, combined with the ongoing Deepotsav festivities, will position Ayodhya as a global center of cultural tourism and offer devotees a new way to engage with the timeless story of the Ramayan.
