CM Yogi Adityanath Inaugurates ₹2,251 Crore Investment Projects in Gorakhpur, Slams Previous SP Government

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday strongly criticized the previous Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party (SP) government, alleging that entrepreneurs had been exploited, businesses faced rampant “goonda tax,” and the overall environment of insecurity had discouraged investments in the state.

In sharp contrast, Yogi highlighted that under the “double-engine government” of the BJP, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a leading hub for industrial growth, investments, and employment generation.

He was addressing a gathering at the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) region after inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for projects worth ₹2,251 crore, including the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of Coca-Cola’s bottling plant and the launch of a new unit of Technoplast Packaging, one of India’s top plastic product manufacturers.

“From Exploitation to Empowerment”

Speaking at GIDA’s Plastic Park, the CM recalled that before 2017, investment in Gorakhpur, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and the state at large was just a distant dream.

“Today, due to our government’s commitment, opportunities for development, investment, and employment are expanding rapidly. When security is ensured, investment follows. Investment brings jobs, jobs bring prosperity, and prosperity paves the way for happiness. We are ensuring prosperity through security,” he said.

Without directly naming SP, he accused the previous regime of indulging in caste-based politics, fueling riots, undermining security, and destroying the state’s social fabric. He added that the politics of appeasement had also compromised the dignity of women.

In a sharp remark, he said:

“During the SP government, entrepreneurs were exploited and goonda tax was rampant. Today, no one dares to do this. If anyone tries, Yamraj will be waiting at the next crossing.”

Industrial Push and Employment Generation

Yogi Adityanath highlighted how Uttar Pradesh has become one of the most attractive destinations for domestic and global investors, leading to the creation of over 60 lakh jobs in the private sector.

He announced the establishment of “Employment Zones” named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 100 acres in every district, which will provide training and job opportunities tailored to the interests of youth. Our goal is to ensure no youth of Uttar Pradesh has to leave the state in search of employment,” the CM said.

In Gorakhpur alone, the new investment projects are expected to generate 15,000 direct jobs. Already allotted industrial plots will attract investments worth ₹5,903 crore and create around 10,000 additional jobs.

Major Projects in GIDA

At the ceremony, CM Yogi performed the ‘bhoomi pujan’ of Coca-Cola’s Amrit Bottlers plant in Sector 27. Spread across 40 acres with an investment of ₹700 crore, the facility will provide 1,200 jobs and, in its first phase, install a production line producing 3,000 bottles per day of Coca-Cola’s leading brand, including Thums Up, Fanta, Sprite, Maaza, and Kinley.

He also laid the foundation stones for three major industrial units worth ₹640 crore:

  • APL Apollo Tubes Limited
  • Greentech Bharat Private Limited (SLMG Group)
  • Kapila Agro Industries

These units are collectively expected to employ around 1,200 people once operational.

In addition, the CM inaugurated three units in Uttar Pradesh’s first Plastic Park at GIDA:

  • Technoplast Packaging Private Limited – Investment of ₹96 crore, providing 250 jobs.
  • Omflex Industries Private Limited – Investment of ₹17 crore.
  • Gajanan Poly Plast – Investment of ₹7 crore.

The CM said that with these initiatives, plastic products manufactured in Gorakhpur will soon be supplied nationwide, strengthening the city’s position as an industrial hub.

Sharp Words for the Opposition

The CM alsaimedim at the Opposition, condemning derogatory remarks allegedly made by Congress and RJD leaders in Bihar against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. Insulting the prime minister’s mother is an insult to 140 crore Indians and to every mother. New India will never accept such disgrace.”

He further attacked the INDI alliance, saying: Whenever they win elections via EVMs, they celebrate. But when the BJP wins, they blame EVMs and voter lists. Sweet talk and bitter spit will not work. Their politics survives only on appeasement.”

Vision @2047

Referring to the marathon 25-hour Vidhan Mandal session on August 13–14 dedicated to Vision @2047, Yogi revealed that over 300 intellectuals will visit every district to raise awareness, while citizens can contribute ideas through a special QR code linked to the vision document for Viksit Uttar Pradesh.

With the projects announced, Yogi said Gorakhpur’s industrial landscape has expanded far beyond Sahjanwa, reaching Dhuriyapar via Piprauli, ensuring a new era of development and opportunity for eastern Uttar Pradesh.
