Criminal with one lakh bounty on his head gunned down in encounter with police in Mathura.

Mathura: In a significant breakthrough for law enforcement, a notorious criminal identified as Fati, also known as Asad, was shot dead in an intense encounter with the police in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district. Officials confirmed on Sunday that the slain gangster was a wanted fugitive carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head.

Fati, a resident of Hapur, had a long history of criminal activities spanning multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu, and Kashmir. Authorities revealed that he was implicated in over 36 criminal cases linked to serious offenses such as murder, robbery, and dacoity. Additionally, he was known to be the leader of the infamous Chhaimar gang, a group responsible for several violent and high-profile crimes across different regions.

Providing details of the operation, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Shailesh Kumar Pandey stated that intelligence inputs were received early Sunday morning indicating that Fati was planning a significant criminal operation. Acting swiftly on this information, the police launched an operation to apprehend him.

“We received a tip-off about his presence in the Thana Highway area, where he was reportedly hiding in a colony. When the police team closed in on his location and attempted to capture him, Fati, upon realizing he was surrounded, opened fire on the officers in an attempt to evade arrest,” DIG Pandey explained.

In response to the gunfire, law enforcement personnel engaged in a retaliatory action, during which Fati sustained severe gunshot injuries. He was immediately taken into police custody and rushed to the district hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, doctors at the hospital later declared him dead.

Authorities have disclosed that the deceased gangster was involved in numerous cases registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and other laws in different states. In Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, criminal charges were filed against him under sections 395, 396, 397, and 69, as well as sections 223 and 224. In Uttar Pradesh, particularly in the Ghaziabad district, he faced legal action under section 25 of the Arms Act, along with sections 41 and 411 of the IPC. Additionally, in Bulandshahr district, he was booked under section 25 of the Arms Act, among other offenses.

Officials hailed the operation as a major success in curbing organized crime in the region. They emphasized that eliminating such notorious criminals is crucial in ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order. The police continue to investigate Fati’s network to identify and apprehend other members of his gang who may still be active in carrying out illegal activities.
