Eighteen persons were declared dead and twenty others were injured after a double decker bus hit a milk tanker early Wednesday morning in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh.
The ill-fated bus was heading to Delhi from Bihar. Most of the persons had reportedy died on the spot while the injured screamed and cried for help.
What caused the two vehicles to collide so violently could not be known but it is feared that one of the two drivers had probably dosed off while the vehicles were in speed.
Quite a while after the accident locals rushed to the spot while police came later.
Most of the people were still asleep in the area when the accident took place.
The noise of the collission was so intense that several people were rudely shaken only to rush to the place.
The injured were taken to the Unnao hospital for treatment.
