A shocking incident unfolded in Obri village under the Kheri police station limits of Prayagraj, where a female sub-inspector was violently attacked while discharging her official duty.
The case came to light when SI Preeti Rawat, posted at the Ledhariyari police outpost, went to the village on Wednesday along with her team to serve a court-issued seizure notice against three individuals in a previously registered case.
However, as soon as the police team reached the accused’s residence, strong resistance broke out.
According to reports, more than half a dozen women from the accused family, armed with sticks, launched a sudden attack on the police personnel. In the ensuing chaos, SI Preeti Rawat and her colleagues were beaten, creating panic in the village.
On receiving information, reinforcements from the Kheri police station rushed to the scene, and several suspects were taken into custody.
Later, SI Rawat filed a written complaint, based on which an FIR was registered against two named women and several unidentified individuals.
Police confirmed that the accused not only tried to obstruct the execution of the court order but also resorted to violence against uniformed personnel.
DCP Yamunanagar Vivek Chandra Yadav assured that strict action is being taken, and investigations are underway to identify and arrest all those involved in the assault.
The incident has sparked concern about the safety of police personnel—especially women officers— who often face hostile resistance while executing sensitive legal proceedings.
Authorities have emphasized that no leniency will be shown to those guilty of obstructing justice and attacking law enforcement.
