The founder of FIITJEE, DK Goyal, along with 11 others, has been named in an FIR following a complaint by parents of the coaching institute’s students after several of its Delhi-NCR centres shut down unexpectedly, police said on Saturday.
According to a Noida Police spokesperson, those accused include Goyal, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Rajiv Babbar, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Manish Anand, and the Greater Noida branch head, Ramesh Batlesh.
“An FIR has been lodged based on complaints from parents, with charges of criminal conspiracy and breach of trust,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Noida), Rambadan Singh.
On Friday, parents and students reported that several FIITJEE centres across Delhi-NCR had abruptly closed, with many teachers resigning due to months of unpaid salaries.
FIITJEE, which provides coaching for engineering entrance exams, operates 73 centres across India.
As per the complaint of Satsang Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida, the FIITJEE centre in Noida’s Sector-62 was operational until Tuesday but unexpectedly shut down an hour before its usual closing time. It was later discovered that the centre had been completely closed. Kumar alleged that over two thousand students were enrolled at the centre.
Similar concerns were raised by Manoj Kumar, another complainant and a resident of Sector Omega-2 in Greater Noida.
The unexpected closure of FIITJEE centres has left numerous students and their parents, who have paid fees amounting to lakhs of rupees, in a difficult position.
