A major fire incident was reported late Monday night at the Lok Bandhu Raj Narayan Combined Hospital, a government-run medical facility in Lucknow, triggering a swift and large-scale evacuation operation.
According to officials, around 200 patients were safely moved out of the hospital premises, and fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported.
The incident unfolded when thick smoke was first observed billowing from the second floor of the hospital building. The alert staff quickly informed the authorities, and evacuation protocols were immediately activated to ensure the safety of all patients and hospital personnel.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, confirmed the incident and assured the public that all necessary measures had been taken.
“As soon as the smoke was noticed on the second floor, hospital staff, along with the administration, acted promptly to evacuate the building. Around 200 patients have been safely relocated,” he stated.
Pathak further added that teams from the fire department rushed to the scene soon after the emergency call and worked tirelessly through the night to control and extinguish the blaze. Firefighters managed to contain the fire before it could spread to other parts of the hospital complex.
The Deputy CM also praised the coordinated efforts of the medical staff, paramedics, and hospital management, who worked hand-in-hand under pressure to ensure every patient was moved to safety, either within the facility or to nearby hospitals as a precautionary measure.
“Our doctors, paramedical staff, and the hospital superintendent showed remarkable presence of mind and teamwork in handling the situation, ensuring that not a single life was lost,” Pathak said.
As of now, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined. Authorities have launched an investigation to assess the damage and establish the reasons behind the outbreak.
A detailed fire safety audit is also expected to be conducted in the coming days to prevent such incidents in the future.
Thanks to the prompt action of the hospital staff, administration, and fire services, what could have turned into a tragedy was averted.
The evacuated patients are reportedly receiving proper care, and arrangements are being made to resume hospital operations once the premises are declared safe.
