Gallant batch of Army Officers pay homage to fallen brothers at the Indian military Academy Dehradun:

Indian military academy serving and retired 1999 batch officers celebrated silver Jubilee in order to bring back past memories and also meet old pals.

Out of 532 officers in this gallant batch, a good number of 200 officers returned to the academy for this momentous meet.

Notable officers of the batch include Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who laid down his life in 2008 while fighting terrorists at hotel Taj in Mumbai. Lt Col Sankalp Kumar, awarded Shaurya Chakra laid down life fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir 2014, Kirti Chakra was given to Major KP Vinay and Kirti Chakra was awarded to Capt Dilip Kumar. Both became martyr while challenging militants in 2007 and 2002 in Jammu and Kashmir. The batch had received 40 gallantry awards including Ashok Chakra the highest among peace time awards for gallantry awarded by the country.

The officers paid homage to their brothers who laid down their lives in honour of the country.

Among other officers of this batch who attended the memorable meeting included Lt Col Rajesh Kumar Singh, Col. S Kolay, Col GS Sandhu, Col Dilip Singh and others.
