Guilty Engineers working with National Highway Authority in laying Expressways and Highways will find no saviours while the honest ones would be rewarded: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari:

Minister for road transport and highways in India Nitin Gadkari has said that engineers found doing substandard work in the building of roads would be fired. We have made enough numbers of roads in the country.  The task has been carried out by the National Highway Authority of India and its engineers would be held accountable for any discrepancies found during the road use by commuters.

India has achieved the status of the biggest network of roads. The time has come when we have to make a record of suspending and sending home those engineers who had not delivered as required.

We will blacklist the contractor immediately if any discrepancy gets detected in the quality and building of the roads. Not only this, we shall ensure that such a contractor would never be able to work anywhere in the country in the future.

The minister made the above harsh statement while he was planting a tree in memory of his mother at the Duhai Interchange at the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. Engineers and officers found doing good work would be rewarded while the strictest possible punishment would be meted out to defaulting ones. Those found guilty would not be spared come what may as there would be no saviours. The minister sent shockwaves among those involved in the building of highways under the banner of the National Highway Commission after his comments on good quality and bad quality work.

He said trash had been used in the laying of Delhi Mumbai highway. Around forty lakh tons of trash was used in the building of roads in Ahmedabad.

We could not get the required trash in the laying of the Delhi Meerut Expressway.
