Prayagraj: The Nagar Ayukt (Municipal Commissioner) Seelam Sai Teja has imposed a fine on the contractor responsible for the construction of Havelia Road after serious deficiencies were found during an inspection.
During a detailed review of roadworks being carried out under the city’s development schemes, Commissioner Singh personally inspected the stretch of road being built from Hawelia Crossing to Beli Road Crossing.
The inspection revealed several flaws, including poor material quality and uneven surfacing, prompting immediate action against the contractor.
Inspection Details
The Municipal Commissioner’s inspection team reported that the road being constructed under the Prayagraj Smart City and Urban Development Plan did not meet the prescribed quality standards.
In response, Commissioner Singh ordered a financial penalty on the contractor and instructed engineers to ensure the deficiencies were corrected without delay.
The Municipal Commissioner emphasized that future payments to the contractor will be withheld until all construction work meets the standards set out in the approved design and specifications.
Strict Warning Issued
The Commissioner also issued a stern warning to all contractors involved in civic development projects, stating that substandard work will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He directed officials to conduct frequent on-site inspections and submit quality control reports regularly to the Nagar Nigam headquarters.
“The aim is to ensure durable and safe infrastructure for the citizens. Contractors must comply strictly with approved plans and materials,” Singh asserted.
The inspection is part of a larger drive by the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation to enforce quality in all ongoing road and infrastructure projects funded by public money.
