Hillary Clinton Says She’d Nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize—If He Can Secure a Just End to Ukraine War

Former US First Lady and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has made a striking statement about her onetime rival, Donald Trump. Speaking on Fox News co-host Jessica Tarlov’s Raging Moderates podcast, Clinton said she would not hesitate to nominate Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize—if he were to successfully negotiate a just and lasting end to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Clinton, who served as Secretary of State under President Barack Obama, emphasized that the credibility of any peace deal hinges on upholding Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensuring that no part of its territory is ceded to Russia. “If he could bring about the end to this terrible war…

If he could end it without putting Ukraine in a position where it had to concede its territory to the aggressor… could stand up to Putin,” she said, underscoring that peace cannot come through capitulation.

She added that the forthcoming Alaska summit presents Trump with an opportunity to demonstrate real leadership. According to her, this is his chance to send an unequivocal message to Russian President Vladimir Putin. There must be a ceasefire, and there can be no exchange of territory as part of any settlement.

“If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize. Because my goal here is not to allow capitulation to Putin,” Clinton declared.

Trump, throughout his presidency and beyond, has frequently portrayed himself as a peacemaker and dealmaker on the global stage.

However, his methods often leaned heavily on sanctions, public ultimatums, and threats of economic penalties—tactics critics argue amount to less diplomacy and more coercion.

While he has projected an image of being the leader who could “stop wars,” the real question, as Clinton implied, is what kind of peace Trump ultimately envisions: one based on genuine dialogue and balance, or one enforced through pressure and fear.
