Himachal, Assam affected by floods, UP and Bihar on tenterhooks.

Heavy rains have caused much damage in Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam states in the country. There were chances of more damage in the coming days in case heavy downpours continued.

In Himachal Pradesh, 150 roads were damaged and traffic movement was disrupted due to continuing heavy downpours.
Nearly 24.5 lakh people have been affected in Assam due to incessant rains that have wreaked widespread damage to electricity roads and dwellings. As many as 52 persons have lost their lives in floods in this state. Another twelve persons reportedly died in storms and landslides here.
Bihar is on tenterhooks of heavy floods due to release of four lakh cusec water from the Gandak river in Nepal.
Similar conditions prevail in Uttar Pradesh where the government has sounded high alert.
CM Yogi Adityanath has instructed all; district magistrates particularly in areas prone to floods to make prior arrangements to fight out the situation.
 Boats, life jackets and fodder for livestock was being readied in several districts of the state. A number of villages in this state are usually submerged in water and thus thousands of people shift to nearby places every year following floods.
