Hyderabad has been shaken to its core by a crime so gruesome that it has left both police officers and citizens horrified.
A five-month pregnant woman was mercilessly murdered, her body chopped into pieces, and her remains dumped in the Musi River by none other than her own husband, police revealed on Sunday.
This shocking act of violence unfolded in Medipally, where the accused, a 27-year-old driver with a ride-hailing company, not only strangled his wife but also allegedly stored her headless and legless torso inside their home, displaying a level of brutality that investigators are calling “chilling beyond words.”
A Crime that Sent Shockwaves Through Hyderabad
DCP P.V. Padmaja of the Malkajgiri Zone revealed that the crime scene was so ghastly that seasoned police officers stood stunned.
After killing his 21-year-old wife around 4:30 PM on Saturday, the accused reportedly dismembered her body with precision, discarding the severed parts in the Musi River before keeping the torso hidden in their room. It’s a disturbing crime scene.
The brutality involved is extreme, and the investigation has been taken up with utmost seriousness,” DCP Padmaja said.
How the Crime Came to Light
After committing the murder, the accused tried to cover up his crime by calling his sister and falsely claiming that his wife had gone missing. However, his sister sensed something was wrong and contacted another relative, who insisted on taking him to the police station.
Once there, the accused attempted to register a missing person’s complaint. But as officers began questioning him, his inconsistencies gave him away. Eventually, he confessed to the horrific crime.
A Marriage that Turned Deadly
The investigation revealed a history of domestic disputes between the couple, who were both natives of Vikarabad district. Their relationship began as a love story, culminating in a love-cum-arranged marriage at Arya Samaj in January 2024.
However, the honeymoon phase ended quickly. By April 2024, the woman had filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, accusing him of physical abuse. Village elders mediated and persuaded them to reconcile, but tensions continued to simmer.
The victim, who briefly worked at a call centre in Punjagutta, was reportedly forced to quit her job due to her husband’s suspicions about her movements. Despite her pregnancy in March 2025, the quarrels escalated, creating a toxic and abusive environment that eventually exploded into deadly violence.
The Murder and Its Motive
According to police, the murder was the culmination of an argument over the woman’s decision to visit her parents’ home for a medical check-up. The accused, enraged by her insistence and verbal abuse during the quarrel, decided to kill her that very day.
Investigators say he strangled her to death, then meticulously dismembered her body before disposing of it in the river, all while keeping her torso hidden in their rented home at Boduppal.
Search for Body Parts
In a race against time, police teams, NDRF personnel, and swimmers from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) launched an extensive search operation to recover the missing body parts from the Musi River. So far, the torso has been recovered and sent for post-mortem, while DNA tests are being conducted to confirm her identity officially.
Extreme Brutality That Stuns a City
This murder has been described by senior officers as one of the most barbaric crimes in recent memory, showcasing a disturbing level of cruelty. What makes it even more shocking is the fact that the victim was carrying their unborn child.
The accused has been arrested and charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destruction of evidence.
A Crime That Demands Reflection
This case is not just a story of domestic discord—it is a reminder of how unchecked anger, suspicion, and abuse can spiral into unspeakable violence. A young woman, barely 21, who once dreamt of a better future, and her unborn child, met a fate so horrifying that it has become a stark warning about the depths of cruelty some individuals can sink to.
