Ajay Devgn—a name synonymous with intensity, versatility, and dedication in Indian cinema—continues to captivate audiences across generations with his dynamic performances and fearless approach to acting.
As an actor, director, and producer, he has carved a unique niche for himself, often blending action, emotion, and authenticity in every role he takes on.
From his debut in Phool Aur Kaante, where he grabbed headlines with his jaw-dropping motorcycle stunt, Ajay Devgn has remained committed to performing most of his action sequences himself.
When I asked him about this daring choice, “You perform stunts without using a body double. Aren’t you scared?” he responded with heartfelt pride:
“Yes, I avoid using a body double. In fact, it’s hereditary. I’m a proud son of Veeru Devgan, and we all know who he was. It would be a shame if I relied on a duplicate every time.”

Indeed, Ajay’s passion for action isn’t just professional—it’s personal. His father, the legendary Veeru Devgan, was one of Bollywood’s most celebrated stunt choreographers and directors.
Veeru Devgan crafted the action sequences for over 200 iconic films, including Mr. Natwarlal, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan, and even Ajay’s own debut, Phool Aur Kaante. His directorial venture Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) starred none other than his son.
Veeru Devgan passed away on May 27, 2019, in Mumbai, but his legacy lives on through Ajay’s work. #VeeruDevgan
Ajay’s journey in Bollywood has been marked not just by success but by a relentless desire to grow. When I asked him, “Your debut film was a hit and since then you never looked back. As a top-ranked star and filmmaker, are you proud of yourself?” he humbly replied:
“Proud? Nope, never! But I’m thankful to my fans, the film fraternity, and everyone who’s part of this industry. Without them, I’m nothing.”

While he’s celebrated for his gripping action performances in films like Singham, Drishyam, and Tanhaji, Ajay has never limited himself to a single genre. His stellar performances in Zakhm, Gangaajal, and Omkara prove his versatility as a true actor.
I asked him, “Although you’ve worked in diverse films, audiences love you in action and comic roles. Do you acknowledge that?” He smiled and said,
“Yes, I understand. My fans adore me in action and comedy, but they’ve also supported my romantic and different genre films. They’ve made them successful too.”
He’s absolutely right. Films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam showcased a different side of Ajay, one that resonated deeply with viewers. When I mentioned the film, he acknowledged its impact:
“Yes, Salman, Aishwarya, and I received love, praise, and huge box-office success. Films like that should definitely be made more often.”

Over the years, Ajay Devgn has earned both commercial success and critical acclaim. His trophy shelf includes four National Film Awards and four Filmfare Awards, a reflection of his excellence and commitment to storytelling. Curious about how he views accolades, I asked, “What do awards mean to you?”
He responded with characteristic humility:
“Awards bring recognition and satisfaction, but for me, the reward from my fans and filmgoers is far more important.”

Beyond acting, Ajay has established himself as a formidable filmmaker. His directorial ventures like Shivaay, Runway 34, and Bholaa not only entertained audiences but also demonstrated his technical acumen, especially in designing intricate action sequences.
When I inquired about his experience behind the camera, he shared an emotional perspective:
“Being a filmmaker is like being a parent. When I complete a film as a director and producer, it feels like I’ve given birth to a baby.”

In addition to his cinematic pursuits, Ajay Devgn has also proved his mettle in the business world. With a successful multiplex chain, a visual effects company, and stakes in premium brands, he has become a respected entrepreneur.
When I asked him how the entrepreneurial journey was treating him, he simply said:
“The experience is good, and I am happy.”

Towards the end of our conversation, I couldn’t help but ask about his upcoming project, the much-anticipated Son of Sardaar 2. His eyes lit up with excitement as he said:
“It’s a film to watch! Son of Sardaar 2 has all the spices to entertain filmgoers. I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping it turns out to be a blockbuster.”
