Incessant heavy rains throws life out of gear in Prayagraj: NDRF team saves life of twelve persons who had gone fishing in a boat that capsized in the swollen Ganga

Life in the city and its suburbs was thrown out of gear following incessant heavy rains throughout Tuesday. This also resulted in the disruption of power and water supply in the entire district. Water pumps and electrical appliances could not be used. However, the only solace was the cool weather which replaced the air conditioners. In many homes, people did not feel the need for fans because of the coolness of the weather.

Trees were uprooted and branches fell on electricity wires causing blackouts in many localities. Life in the suburbs became even worse. Pools of water made pathway traveling almost impossible.

Mahakumbh work came to a standstill.

City dwellers preferred to stay at home but office goers had a tough time due to traffic snarls while rain poured from the sky.

In Tharwai twelve persons were saved by the NDRF team. This group of men suddenly decided to go fishing but their boat capsized in the middle of the Ganga which is in spate. Nine of them managed to climb a tree while three found part of a rooftop as a haven.

One of them sent an emergency message. Finally, the NDRF team rushed to their aid in speed boats and saved them.

Schools and Colleges were closed till Wednesday.
