The Bombay high court today (June 13) granted filmmaker Karan Johar interim injunction against the producers and director of Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar, restraining them from using his name in the title. Johar had moved the court against producers IndiaPride Advisory and Sanjay Singh and writer-director Bablu Singh, saying that they had unlawfully used his name in their upcoming film’s title, thereby violating his personality rights and right to privacy. He sought a permanent injunction and restraining order against them from using his name.
Justice R.I. Chagla, before whom the suit was mentioned on June 12, heard the plea today. The film was slated for release on June 14.
