PRAYAGRAJ: The Alumni Association of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), Prayagraj, has announced the names of distinguished alumni who will be felicitated at the Global Alumni Conference 2025, scheduled to be held on November 15–16.
The awards, popularly known as “Moti Awards” (Pearls of MNNIT), are conferred upon alumni who have excelled in diverse professional fields and brought laurels to the institution.
This year, the selection committee shortlisted eight awardees across seven categories, from a pool of 85 nominations. Notably, no candidate was selected under the “International Service/Recognition” category.
Distinguished Alumni in Various Fields
- Professional Excellence (Public Sector & Administration):
Amitabh (B.E. Mechanical, 1986), presently General Manager, North Western Railway, Jaipur, has been chosen for his outstanding contributions to Indian Railways. He has been previously recognized with prestigious honors, including the Prime Minister’s Award, Railway Minister’s Award, and the General Manager’s Award. - Professional Excellence (Private Sector & Corporate Leadership):
Sharad Mahendra (B.E. Mechanical, 1989), Joint Managing Director & CEO, JSW Energy Ltd., Mumbai, has been selected. A seasoned leader in the energy sector, he was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame in London. - Professional Excellence (Academia & Research):
Dr. Bharat Raj Singh (M.E., 1988), Director General (Technical), Faculty of Management Sciences, Lucknow, has earned recognition for his prolific contributions in teaching and research. He has published 158 research papers, authored 21 books, and holds 2 patents, making a significant impact in academic innovation. - Institutional & Social Service:
Vijay Wadhawan (B.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering, 1996), Divisional Director, Panasonic India, Delhi-NCR, has been honored for his active involvement in both institutional service and community initiatives. - Entrepreneurship & Innovation:
Kuldeep Tyagi (B.E. Production & Industrial Engineering, 1999), Founder & CEO, Saraca Solutions, Ghaziabad, has been selected for his entrepreneurial excellence. He has earned five international patents in the cutting-edge domains of IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Deep Learning.
Lifetime Achievement Award
The prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Vice Admiral (Retd.) Ashok Kumar Kalra (B.E. Electrical Engineering, 1978, New Delhi).
A decorated naval officer, he played a pivotal role in developing India’s nuclear propulsion control systems and in the construction of India’s first nuclear submarine.
For his distinguished service, he has been conferred with the AVSM (Ati Vishisht Seva Medal) and VSM (Vishisht Seva Medal) by the Indian Armed Forces.
Young Achievers Award
To recognize the rising stars among its alumni, the association will also confer Young Achievers Awards:
- Srishti Singh (B.Tech ECE, 2019), currently Additional District Magistrate, Dhubri, Assam, who pioneered an innovative boat-based polling station model, setting new benchmarks in election management.
- Prashant (B.Tech, 2008), Senior Vice President (Operations), Delhivery, who leads a workforce of over one lakh employees and manages a staggering ₹10,000 crore P&L portfolio.
Celebrating Excellence, Inspiring Generations
Executive President of the Alumni Association, Prof. Avneesh Kumar Dubey, said the awards are a tribute to alumni who have scaled professional heights while upholding the legacy of their alma mater.
The upcoming Global Alumni Meet promises to be a celebration not only of achievements but also of the institute’s enduring spirit of innovation, leadership, and service.
