Major Muslim bodies, including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), on Tuesday voiced deep concern over the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, urging authorities to carry out a thorough and impartial probe into the incident.
AIMPLB president Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, in his statement, said that if the blast turns out to be a terror-related act, it is a matter of serious alarm and raises troubling questions regarding national security preparedness.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Rahmani stressed the need for a “fair, exhaustive and multi-layered investigation.” He added that if the explosion was accidental, it is a tragic event, but if it was indeed an act of terrorism, it highlights a grave security lapse even in one of the most protected zones of the national capital.
He assured the bereaved families that AIMPLB stands with them in this difficult time, offering prayers and solidarity.
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind also demanded a transparent and high-level probe, accountability for any security failures, and proper compensation for the victims.
JIH president Syed Sadatullah Husaini stated that initial media reports hint at the possibility of a terror attack.
If confirmed, he said, such an act deserves the strongest condemnation and swift justice.
Husaini termed the incident a serious breach of security and called for responsibility to be fixed at the highest administrative levels, emphasizing that safeguarding citizens is a constitutional duty of the government.
He also criticized sections of the media and social media users for attempting to exploit the tragedy for ideological or political purposes, urging authorities to take action against such behavior.
Husaini reiterated that terrorism has no religion and is a betrayal of all faiths. He called upon people of all communities to unite against extremism, resist hate, and collectively work toward eliminating the roots and networks of terror.
“Only a united and harmonious society,” he said, “can preserve the nation’s pluralistic identity, peace, and future.”
