When Netflix does something, it does it in grand style — and the trailer launch of its much-anticipated new web series, The Royals, was no exception.
True to the theme of the series, which revolves around a fictional royal family from Rajasthan, the entire event was infused with majestic charm. From the elegant seating arrangements to the sumptuous food spread, every detail exuded royal splendour.
Adding to the immersive experience, ushers and servers at the event were dressed in traditional blue saafas — the iconic Rajasthani headgear — transporting guests into the grandeur of a Rajasthan palace, where mingling with royalty felt natural.
The Royals boasts a star-studded ensemble including Bhumi Pednekar, Ishaan Khatter, Zeenat Aman, Chunkey Panday, Milind Soman, Nora Fatehi, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, Sakshi Tanwar, Dino Morea, Sumukhi Suresh, Kavya Trehan, and Udit Arora.
The 8-episode series is helmed by directors Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, with the writing credits going to Neha Veena Sharma. It has been produced by Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy and is all set to premiere on Netflix on May 9.
A romantic drama at heart, The Royals narrates the story of an unexpected love blossoming between a royal family member and a commoner — a timeless theme made fresh with a contemporary twist.
Given the current scarcity of well-made romantic series, anticipation around this one is particularly high. The impeccably crafted trailer has already captured the audience’s imagination, ensuring that many have marked their calendars to experience The Royals firsthand.
