In a move that has surprised many within political circles, the BJP’s central leadership has appointed Nitin Navin, a cabinet minister in the Bihar government, as the party’s National Executive President.
The decision was taken by the party’s Parliamentary Board and comes into effect immediately.
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh announced the appointment in an official statement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Nitin Navin through a post on X, wishing him success in his new role.
Party sources indicate that Nitin Navin is being seen as a potential successor to the current BJP National President JP Nadda.
He is expected to play a crucial organisational role in the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections and the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Among the Youngest to Hold the Post
At 45 years of age, Nitin Navin is among the youngest leaders to be appointed to this senior organisational position.
A five-time MLA, he currently serves as the Minister for Road Construction in the Bihar government and represents the Bankipur constituency in Patna.
Nitin Navin belongs to the Kayastha community and is the son of veteran BJP leader Navin Kishore Sinha.
Over the years, he has built a reputation as a committed grassroots worker with strong organisational skills.
Congratulating him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Nitin Navin has proven his credentials as a dedicated and hardworking party worker.
Describing him as a young, dynamic, and diligent leader, the Prime Minister said that his extensive organisational experience, energy, and commitment would significantly strengthen the party in the times ahead.
