Operation CyHawk 2.0 Delivers Major Blow to Cyber Fraud Networks; Over 1,000 Arrested and ₹944 Crore Traced

The second phase of Operation CyHawk, launched by the Delhi Police to break organised cyber fraud networks, has delivered strong results, with police arresting and detaining over 1,000 people and tracing ₹944 crore of money cheated from victims.

According to Delhi Police, the operation focused on tracking funds routed through mule bank accounts, which are commonly used by cyber criminals to hide illegal proceeds.

During the drive, police were able to trace ₹944 crore linked to cyber fraud cases.

Large-Scale Legal Action

Sharing details of the operation, police said 1,146 individuals were bound down—a legal action requiring suspects to maintain good behaviour—while notices were issued to 1,736 suspects.

This brings the total number of people facing legal action to 2,880 during the second phase of the operation.

Operation CyHawk 2.0 was launched nearly a month after the first phase, CyHawk 1.0, and showed a sharp rise in enforcement outcomes.

Significant Improvement Over First Phase

DCP Rajneesh Gupta, who heads the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit, said the second phase showed major improvement compared to the earlier drive.

“Legal action has been taken against 2,880 persons, which is more than 200 per cent higher than Operation CyHawk 1.0.

The number of suspects detained for questioning increased by 163 per cent, FIR resolution went up by 125 per cent, and the linking of complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Platform (NCRP) improved by 110 per cent,” Gupta said.

Strong Performance Across Districts

Police said that the South East and Central districts delivered some of the best results during the operation.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Madhur Verma said that officers in the Central Range arrested and bound more than 220 cyber criminals as part of the drive.

Fake Call Centre Busted

During the operation, police also busted a 32-member cyber fraud gang running a fake call centre in Sarai Rohilla.

According to investigators, the gang targeted people living abroad by offering fraudulent technical support and services related to Apple devices and other products, tricking victims into paying money for services that were never provided.

Inter-State Raids and Mass Arrests

Highlighting the scale of the crackdown, police said that in the South East district alone, a team of over 400 personnel conducted raids across multiple states, leading to the arrest of more than 140 people involved in cyber fraud activities.

Delhi Police said Operation CyHawk 2.0 is part of its continued effort to disrupt cybercrime networks, protect citizens from digital fraud, and strengthen coordination between intelligence and enforcement units.
