Panic in Prayagraj’s Naini After Series of Bomb Attacks

The normally busy streets of Naini in Prayagraj turned into a scene of chaos and fear on Wednesday night when two unidentified, masked assailants on a motorcycle carried out a series of bomb attacks between Machhli Gate and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) point.

Within just three to four minutes, the attackers hurled four crude bombs across an area of roughly 300 meters, leaving pedestrians injured, damaging a car, and spreading a wave of terror through the locality.

How the attack unfolded

According to eyewitnesses, the two masked men rode into the area from the direction of Machhli Gate. Almost immediately, they began tossing bombs indiscriminately:

  • First explosion: The attackers threw the first bomb near Machhli Gate, shocking passersby and creating panic.
  • Second explosion: Roughly 100 meters away, they targeted an area near a guest house at Kali Chawra, throwing another bomb that sent residents running for cover.
  • Third attempt: A third bomb landed on the tin-shed roof of a roadside house, but it failed to explode, narrowly preventing further destruction.
  • Fourth explosion: The final bomb struck a car coming from the FCI direction. The blast damaged the car’s front gate, but miraculously, the driver, 26-year-old Harsh Mishra, escaped without injury.

After unleashing the attack, the assailants sped away in the direction of the FCI point, leaving behind injured residents and a terrified neighborhood.

Injuries and local impact

The explosions caused injuries to three people, all residents of the locality who happened to be nearby:

  • Satyam, 26
  • Shivam, 24
  • Niranjana, 17 (a young girl caught in the chaos)

They sustained wounds from bomb fragments and were rushed for medical assistance.

The attacks also took place close to the residence of Padma Shri awardee scientist Dr. Ajay Sonkar, adding to speculation and fueling rumors in the area. The sudden and targeted nature of the blasts has left locals deeply unsettled.

Fear grips Naini

Residents described the incident as terrifying, saying the attackers hurled the bombs with “furious speed,” showing no concern for human life. The fact that the attack happened in a busy public stretch has heightened fears about safety and raised questions about the motives of the criminals.

For now, the police are investigating, but the brazen act has left Prayagraj’s Naini area in shock, with many residents afraid to step out after dark.

Some sources said the attack was aimed at any person but was an attempt to send a message of dominance in the area.
