The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Prayagraj, in collaboration with the Ummeed Foundation, has launched a six-day workshop titled “Life Lessons from the Bhagavad Gita.”
The primary objective of this initiative is to help newly admitted students cultivate essential life skills—shaping their personality, boosting self-confidence, strengthening decision-making abilities, and learning effective stress-management techniques.
The workshop was formally inaugurated with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Prof. M. M. Gore, Prof. Rajiv Srivastava, Dr. Ravindra Tripathi, Dr. Rajesh Shastri, and the chief speaker, Swami Achyut Mohan Das.
Swami Das, who captivated the audience right from his introduction, brings a unique blend of academic brilliance and spiritual depth.
A B.Tech graduate from NIT Surathkal and gold medalist at the 2001 National Mathematics Olympiad, he also worked as a software developer at Oracle before dedicating his life to spiritual teaching. Today, he travels worldwide, guiding youth on the path of spirituality, inner peace, and mental balance.
He has conducted similar workshops on the Bhagavad Gita, the Bhagavata Purana, and the Ramayana at premier institutes, including IIT Madras, IIT BHU, and IIM Bangalore, positively impacting more than 40,000 young minds.
Each session in this MNIT workshop includes a 75-minute lecture by experts in the Gita and Vedic wisdom, followed by an interactive question-and-answer segment, allowing students to clarify doubts and relate the teachings to modern life challenges.
Faculty members and students alike have hailed this initiative as a major step toward fostering holistic development and preparing students not only for academic success but also for personal growth and leadership.
