A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking the removal of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been filed before the Allahabad High Court.
The PIL filed by the Peoples Union for Civil Liberties, Uttar Pradesh (UP) branch, it has been said that utterances made by Yogi Adityanath supporting Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav are derogatory of secular republic India.
In the petition, it has been alleged that Allahabad High Court judge Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav had made comments against the Muslim community in an event organized by the Legal Cell of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on December, 8,2024 in the library hall of Barthe association of high court.
It is further averred that the Supreme Court had also taken note of the matter and had called comments from the High Court. Subsequently, Justice Yadav was directed by the apex court to appear before it.
It is alleged in the PIL that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath openly supported the comments of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, which is in gross violation of the oath of the office of Chief Minister, as he has defied the faith and allegiance to the Constitution of India.
Thus, in this backdrop, a prayer to dismiss Yogi Adityanath from the post of chief minister has been made in the PIL.
The matter will come before the court in due course.
