In a sweeping crackdown on drug trafficking networks, the Jhalawar Police in Rajasthan have intensified their assault on narcotics syndicates under the special initiative ‘Operation Divya Prahar’, enforcing a firm zero-tolerance policy against the illegal drug trade.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar announced that the coordinated operation has not only targeted drug smugglers but has also systematically dismantled the economic foundations that have fuelled narcotics networks in the region.
Financial Empire of Traffickers Targeted
For several months, the Modus Operandi (MO) Branch of the SP office had been silently mapping the wealth amassed through drug trafficking — including land, buildings, and other assets.
The intelligence gathered was shared strictly on a need-to-know basis with field officers, enabling covert investigations into property ownership and transactions.
To operationalise this strategy, a four-member specialised team was formed:
- Head Constables Hemant Sharma & Pinku Mairotha (SPO Jhalawar)
- Constable Vikas Kumar Sharma (Cyber Police Station)
- Constable Nitesh Yadav (Cyber Team)
This team provided crucial support to station officers during financial inquiries and the freezing of drug-funded assets.
Multi-Department Coordination
Under the directive of District Collector Ajay Singh Rathore:
- Revenue Department verified all land-related records
- Public Works Department assessed the market valuation of illegally acquired properties
Over the last three months, the district witnessed synchronised action against drug cartels, demolitions of unlawful structures, and criminal prosecutions.
Drug Mafia Hit With ₹62.71 Crore Financial Loss
SP Amit Kumar revealed the extensive damage inflicted on the illegal trade:
| Component | Estimated Value |
|---|---|
| Seized narcotics | ₹8.40 crore |
| Confiscated vehicles | ₹4 crore |
| Demolished illegal assets on govt land | ₹50+ crore |
| Total losses to the drug mafia | ₹62.71 crore |
The confiscated drugs include:
- 3.418 kg smack
- 4.783 kg opium
- 131.383 kg ganja
- 485.051 kg doda chura
- 482 g hashish
- 62.21 g MDM
Police registered 78 NDPS cases and arrested 128 traffickers, all now behind bars.
Vehicle seizures include:
- 16 two-wheelers
- 10 cars and pickups
- A truck carrying 25 tonnes of iron rods
- A container truck
Additionally, police recovered ₹31.9 lakh cash during busts on planned commercial drug deals.
Illegal Constructions Demolished
Eight illegal properties built by traffickers on government land — collectively valued at over ₹50 crore — were demolished with heavy police deployment. These actions sent a clear warning:
Drug money does not secure property rights.
Proposals under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act to freeze properties were swiftly approved by the Competent Authority in Delhi, legally preventing their sale, transfer, or use.
Economic Warfare Against Drug Syndicates
SP Amit Kumar emphasised that the mission goes beyond arrests: Operation Divya Prahar shows that destroying financial power is key to ending the influence of narcotics mafias who have ruined countless families.”
To ensure strong prosecution, police station officers have been appointed as case officers in major trials — ensuring tighter coordination in court and harsher penalties for offenders.
Operation Divya Prahar stands as a tough message to drug networks: in Jhalawar, crime no longer pays.
