The Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, through a recent order, made it mandatory for owners/operators of food shops and eateries located along the Kanwar Yatra route to display their names on the boards. Adityanath said the rules would also apply to beverage shops in order to maintain the sanctity of the pilgrims’ faith. The order also stated that action would be taken against those selling halal-certified products.
Sood opined on the matter and said, “There should be only one nameplate on every shop: ‘HUMANITY’.”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and actor Kangana Ranaut on July 20 reacted to actor Sonu Sood’s post on social media platform X about the Uttar Pradesh government order on Kanwar Yatra and said, the word ‘halal’ should be replaced with humanity.
In his post, Sonu Sood stated that only “humanity” should be displayed on shop nameplates after the UP govt directive for eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route to display their owners’ names. Ranaut was quick to question Sood’s stand on the UP government’s directive.
