Roadways Employee Ravendra Kumar Murder Case: Shocking Twist Reveals He Died Trying to Help a Friend

In a chilling daylight murder that has shaken Prayagraj, new revelations have emerged in the brutal killing of Ravendra Kumar, a contractual employee with the Uttar Pradesh Roadways.

Police investigations have now confirmed that the victim had no prior enmity with his attackers.

Ravendra’s only “fault,” as investigators put it, was that he tried to help his friend in distress — an act of humanity that tragically cost him his life.

According to the police, the incident unfolded at a petrol pump near Mundera Chungi in Prayagraj. Ravendra’s close friend, Pintu Yadav, worked there as a staff member.

On October 21, an altercation reportedly broke out when Pintu’s motorcycle accidentally brushed against the bike of an accused named Ali. Enraged, Ali allegedly hurled abuses and even threatened Pintu with dire consequences.

Frightened by the confrontation, Pintu immediately called his friend Ravendra for help. Demonstrating loyalty and courage,

Ravendra rushed to the spot to pacify the situation. However, his attempt to intervene only escalated the dispute.

As seen in CCTV footage, Ali started beating Ravendra during the heated argument.

Moments later, Ali called reinforcements — his father Nuraina, uncles Hasnain and Irfan, cousins Hussain, Kamran, and Kaif, along with several unidentified associates.

Together, they launched a violent assault on Ravendra, attacking him brutally with bricks and stones until he succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

The gruesome video of the assault has since gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and demands for swift justice.

Police Action and Investigation

Police have registered an FIR against seven named and four unidentified accused persons under relevant sections of the IPC. Each of the prime suspects now carries a reward of ₹25,000 for information leading to their arrest.

Despite the passage of six days, all the main accused remain at large. The Dhoomanganj Police Station has formed seven dedicated teams to track down the culprits.

Raids are being carried out not only across Prayagraj but also in Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, and nearby districts, where the accused are suspected to be hiding.

Meanwhile, police have also arrested six relatives of the accused on charges of providing shelter and aiding their escape.

Officials have stated that forensic analysis of CCTV footage and mobile call records is underway to trace the attackers’ movements and build a watertight case.

A senior police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “This was not a case of premeditated enmity. It was a tragic consequence of sudden rage and group violence.

We are pursuing every lead and will ensure that the culprits are brought to justice soon.”

The murder of Ravendra Kumar — a man who stepped forward to help a friend — has reignited debates about rising street violence, mob mentality, and the need for stronger deterrents in cases of public brutality.

As outrage grows, local citizens and roadway employees have staged small protests demanding immediate arrests and capital punishment for the guilty.

Meanwhile, DCP Shandyal DCP City still maintains that the culprits were being hounded by our police team formed with precision to nab the, and we hope to nab them soon
