Six judicial officers belonging to the higher judicial services (HJS) were sworn in as judges of the Allahabad High Court on Friday (April 18).
The oath was administered to the newly sworn-in judges by the Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali.
Those HJS, who took oath on Friday as judges of the Allahabad High Court, included Jitendra Kumar Sinha, Anil Kumar-X, Sandeep Jain, Avnish Saxena, Madan Pal Singh, and Harvir Singh.
Earlier, the Supreme Court collegium had recommended the names of eight judicial officers for appointment as Judges of the Allahabad High Court this month.
Barring two names, the Central Government had cleared the appointment of all recommendees.
With these six judicial officers taking oath, the strength of judges at the Allahabad High Court has risen to 88, including the Chief Justice, against the sanctioned strength of 160 judges.
Earlier this month, Justice Yashwant Verma, Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Chandra Dhari Singh took oath as the judges of the Allahabad High Court upon notification for their transfers by the central government.
