Sonia Gandhi Recovering Well at Delhi Hospital, Discharge date to be finalised

New Delhi:
Senior Congress leader and Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party, Sonia Gandhi, who was recently admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi due to a stomach-related ailment, is said to be recovering steadily. Hospital authorities provided an update on her condition on Tuesday, stating that while she is responding positively to treatment, a final decision regarding her discharge is yet to be made.

The 78-year-old political veteran and former Congress president was hospitalised on Sunday evening, following health complaints related to digestion. Doctors have since diagnosed her with a stomach infection, and she is currently under close medical supervision.

In an official statement, Dr Ajay Swaroop, Chairman of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, confirmed:
Mrs Sonia Gandhi is stable and responding well to the ongoing treatment for her gastrointestinal issue. She is showing signs of improvement. However, she continues to be under observation as a precautionary measure.”

He further mentioned that a team of senior specialists, including Dr S. Nundy and Dr Amitabh Yadav, is supervising her health and dietary intake around the clock. Her diet is being carefully managed as part of the recovery process.

Although she is said to be on the mend, hospital authorities have clarified that no date for her discharge has been finalised, as her medical team is taking a cautious approach considering her age and overall health profile.

Sonia Gandhi had also visited the same hospital on June 9 for a routine medical evaluation. Before, she had undergone a series of preliminary diagnostic tests at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, where she had been staying for a few days. The tests were prompted by complaints of high blood pressure, which had raised concern among her staff and family.

Sonia Gandhi, a prominent figure in Indian politics for over two decades, continues to hold a key advisory and leadership role within the Indian National Congress. Her current health scare has drawn attention from political circles and well-wishers across the country, with many expressing their prayers and support for her speedy recovery.

As of now, she remains under observation at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, with doctors monitoring her closely and providing necessary care to ensure a full and safe recovery.
