The RG Kar hospital Kolkata brutal rape and murder has taken an important turn. Taking suo moto cognizance of the rape and murder of a junior lady doctor on duty on  August 9 inside the hospital, incident that has left all right minded citizens in this country rudely shaken and bewildered, the supreme court’s three judge bench will now hear this case on Tuesday August 20.

The chief justice of India Justice DY Chandrachud will himself head this bench along with Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra.
Sources said, the court may also look into vandalism that took place incide the hospital when  strong mob of over a thousand persons attacked the emergency wing where the frightened doctors were on a peaceful protest.
Seeing the protesters, some of whom were armed with blunt weapons, the doctors ran inside the hospital for safety and security.
Female junior lady doctors were in tears and were sending messages to their near and dear ones fearing threat to their lives.
On the others hand the mob that entered the hospital ransacked the emergency and several other wings of the hospital.
Viral videos clearly indicate that the mob was not bothered about the police or any other action against it, sending clear signal that big hands were involved in sending the mob to silence the protesting doctors.
Days earlier, the Calcutta High court’s division bench headed by chief justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharya  had taken suo moto cognizance of this case that appeared slow in investigation and progress in the hands of Calcutta police and handed it over to the CBI.
The court also said that it would monitor the case and CBI was directed to submit progress report every 10th day.
However, an unusual incident took place when a strong mob attacked the hospital where doctors were protesting on August 14.
This triggered another issue and when police came under attack and criticism they released around 75 photos of protesters.
Among the attackers were two TMC workers, few women and several youth.
Police arrested 30 protesters who were in the mob on charges of vandalism.
This was followed by the reaction of chief minister Mamta Vannerjee who accused the BJP and CMP if orchestrating the attack.
On August 16, the high court lashed out at the Calcutta police calling it a failure of the state machinery.
The high court said, it was difficult to believe that police gad no idea about the gathering of nearly 7000 mob.
Meanwhile, the Calcutta police have summoned several leaders including TMC MP Sukhendu Roy for writing irrelevant things on his X handle and spreading misinformation.
BJP leader Locket Chatterjee has also been summoned by the Calcutta police for spreading misinformation in the doctors Rape and murder case.
However, the BJP leader in his reaction has thanked the police for summoning him as it has given him more power to protest against the injustices being committed by the West Bengal government.
