Swiss Court awards four and half year imprisonment to four members of billionaire Hinduja family of Indian origin.

 

A Switzerland Court has awarded four and a half year imprisonment to four members of billionaire Hinduja family.

Hailing from Indian origin, they include Prakash Hinduja, his wife Kamal, son Ajay and daughter in law Namrata.

They have been found guilty of harassing and exploiting domestic helpers.

The family has been fined 950,000 dollars in compensation while 300,000 dollars procedural fee.

The Janeva based Hinduja family had been paying meagre wages to the domestic employees working for 15 to 18 hours.

They have also been accused of caring more for the pets than those working for them. The family has also been accused of confiscating their passports and paying them salaries in Indian currency instead of Swiss.

The employees were confined to Hinduja owned Villa for a long period of time.

The Janeva court has found the Hinduja family of exploiting the workers and also extending unauthorised employment to them.

However the elder Hindujas have been sentenced to four and a half year imprisonment the son and daughter in law would serve four years. They have been found guilty of exploitation and illegal employment.
