Tourists barred from visiting Nathula for a day on January 1

Officials announced on Monday that tourists will be restricted from visiting Nathula near the India-China border in Sikkim on January 1, 2025, due to a special border personnel meeting.

Visitors have been advised to avoid Nathula on the first day of the new year, officials stated.

“A special border personnel meeting is scheduled at Nathula on January 1, 2025, on the Indian side. To facilitate smooth proceedings, the movement of tourists and civilians in the area will be temporarily restricted for the day,” the officials explained.

Meanwhile, other popular spots like Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir will remain open to tourists. Travelers are encouraged to plan their visits accordingly.
