Trauma Center X-Ray Machine Breaks Down Again, Patients Suffer in Prayagraj

Prayagraj: The plight of patients at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital’s Trauma Center worsened on Wednesday when its only functioning X-ray machine broke down once again.

According to hospital sources, nearly 20 patients who had been waiting for scans were left in distress and had to seek diagnostic tests at private facilities outside the hospital. Many of them had already deposited fees at the hospital, but no refund was provided, adding to their frustration.

The machine had reportedly been repaired just a week earlier, yet the repeated technical failures are causing immense hardship to both patients and their families.

Every day, the trauma center receives around 400 patients, including victims of road accidents and those suffering from neurological conditions. X-rays are often a critical first step in their treatment. With the machine out of order, hospital staff were forced to divert patients to the PMSAY building.

However, the facility there is already overburdened with patients, leading to long delays and overcrowding.

Unable to endure the wait, several patients eventually turned to private diagnostic centers, where they were compelled to spend additional money to get timely scans.

The repeated breakdowns of vital medical equipment at such a critical facility highlight serious concerns about maintenance, accountability, and patient care at one of Prayagraj’s largest government hospitals.
