UP Adds Another Feather to Its Cap as CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews Noida International Airport Ahead of Inauguration

Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, is set to take a major leap in its infrastructure and connectivity goals as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday conducted an on-site inspection of the Noida International Airport project at Jewar, which is nearing completion and expected to begin operations soon.

The visit marked a key milestone in the state’s growing aviation network, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a leading investment and development hub.

After inspecting the airport site, the Chief Minister chaired a detailed review meeting with senior officials from the district administration and airport authorities to assess the project’s progress and readiness for inauguration.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), in a post on X, said Adityanath issued specific instructions to accelerate the remaining works and ensure top-quality infrastructure before the airport’s launch.

During the briefing, Noida International Airport CEO Christoph Schnellmann and COO Kiran Jain presented detailed updates on construction, operational planning, and upcoming timelines.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by UP Cabinet Minister Brijesh Singh, local MLAs Dhirendra Singh and Tejpal Nagar, District Magistrate Medha Roopam, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh, YEIDA CEO Rakesh Singh, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M, and project nodal officer Shailendra Bhatia.

The Noida International Airport, being built under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL) — a fully owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG — in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh government.

The first phase of the project, spread across about 1,300 hectares, will feature one runway and one terminal building. Once completed in four phases, the airport will span nearly 5,000 hectares, making it India’s largest airport by area.

While the government had earlier indicated October 30 as the tentative inauguration date, officials have yet to confirm the final schedule.

Chief Minister Adityanath has expressed confidence that commercial passenger flights will begin by December this year, marking the operational debut of one of India’s most ambitious aviation projects.

With this development, Uttar Pradesh is set to become the only state in India with five international airports, showcasing its growing prominence as a gateway for global connectivity, tourism, and trade.
