UP Police Launch Hunt for Former MLA Ram Prasad Ahirwar in Jalaun Murder Case; ₹25,000 Reward Announced

Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh — Police in Jalaun district have intensified their manhunt for former MLA Ram Prasad Ahirwar (84), who has been booked in connection with the brutal murder of his long-time employee and is currently absconding.

Authorities have announced a ₹25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, as the case has shocked the region with its violent details and involvement of three generations of the influential political family.

The investigation, led by Jalaun Police, began after the arrest of four individuals on August 15, including Ram Prasad’s son, Ajay Singh alias Pankaj (54), a former BSP MLA, and his grandson, Aman Singh alias Mikki (25).

The other accused, identified as Amit Balmki, remains at large, and police have also announced a reward for his capture.

The chilling incident came to light on August 9, when unidentified men allegedly dumped a severely injured man’s body outside a Community Health Centre (CHC) in Jalaun.

Before fleeing the scene, the assailants told hospital staff that the man had been injured in an “incident.” Doctors later confirmed he was already dead.

The deceased was identified as Jitendra Ahirwar (46), a trusted employee of Ram Prasad Ahirwar, who police allege was beaten to death.

Following the discovery, Jitendra’s son, Nitin, lodged a formal complaint, alleging that his father had been called to Ram Prasad’s residence, where he was subjected to a brutal assault by the accused.

A Family Power Struggle Turns Deadly

According to Circle Officer Parmeshwar Prasad, a preliminary inquiry revealed that Jitendra was deeply involved in managing the family-run Inter-College.

He had allegedly been passing on information about the activities of Ajay Singh and Aman Singh to Ram Prasad, which led to heated scoldings from the senior family member. This, investigators believe, triggered animosity between the younger accused and Jitendra.

During interrogation, Aman reportedly told police that Jitendra had won the trust of his grandfather and was even entrusted with the keys to the Inter-College’s main gate, increasing tensions within the family.

On August 9, Jitendra was summoned to the Ahirwar residence, where he was allegedly threatened and roughed up.

Police allege that when Jitendra refused to comply with demands even after repeated warnings, he was forcibly taken in a vehicle to a closed petrol pump owned by the family.

There, he was brutally beaten again, sustaining fatal injuries, before being abandoned outside the CHC. Investigators confirmed that Ram Prasad himself was not physically present at the petrol pump at the time of the attack.

Charges and Manhunt

Additional Superintendent of Police (Jalaun), Pradeep Kumar, confirmed that substantial evidence has surfaced implicating Ram Prasad in orchestrating the murder, prompting authorities to announce a cash reward for his arrest.

Police have registered the case under multiple serious provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 191(2), 103(1), 352, 351(2), and 61(2)(a).

Ajay Singh, one of the accused already in custody, is a well-known figure in the region, having won the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket from the Konch constituency.

Efforts to locate Ram Prasad and Amit Balmki are underway, with police teams deployed to multiple locations. The high-profile nature of the case and its shocking family dynamics have drawn statewide attention, with authorities under pressure to bring all the accused to justice.
