Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Warns of Conspiracy to Divide Hindus and Sikhs, Alleges ₹100 Cr Conversion Racket by Arrested Baba

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday, July 12, 2025, issued a strong warning about alleged conspiracies aimed at creating a rift between the Hindu and Sikh communities. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and not fall prey to efforts designed to disrupt communal harmony.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while flagging off the U.P.-Delhi Balidan Sandesh Yatra, a tribute event commemorating the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Teg Bahadur, the revered ninth Sikh Guru. Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said that recent incidents indicate that certain forces are working behind the scenes to destabilize social unity.
Adityanath specifically pointed to the arrest of Chhangur Baba from Balrampur district, alleging his deep involvement in a massive religious conversion racket.
According to the Chief Minister, Chhangur Baba, who is now behind bars, had devised a systematic plan to convert people from various communities and had even “fixed conversion rates” based on caste and religion.

He claimed that the rate chart included #Hindus, #Brahmins, #Kshatriyas, #Sikhs, #OBCs, as well as members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
“This was not an ordinary activity. It was a structured operation funded by foreign sources, and money was being funneled into his bank accounts,” said Adityanath. He further revealed that over ₹100 crore had reportedly been transacted through 40 different bank accounts linked to the accused.
Referring to #recent conversion cases in Pilibhit, the Chief Minister urged people to stay cautious, emphasizing that such incidents could weaken the fabric of Indian society.
“You must have seen the kind of conspiracy that is being hatched. We recently took strict action in Balrampur. He had clear strategies and rates for each community. This is nothing short of an attempt to destabilize the social structure of India,” Adityanath remarked.

In response to the conversion activities, the Chief Minister disclosed that he had dispatched a special team to the affected areas to carry out ‘#GharWapsi’—a campaign to help those who had converted return to their original faiths.
In a broader political attack, Adityanath accused opposition parties of fostering criminal networks in the state. “They followed a ‘one district, one mafia’ policy. We are working to dismantle that,” he added.
The Chief Minister’s statements come amidst increasing concerns over unlawful conversions and communal tension, raising political and social debate across the state.
