Woman in Georgetown Runs Fraud Racket with Lover Extorted ₹6.5 lakh by Threatening False Rape Cases Plotted a Fake Robbery Story with Lover

PRAYAGRAJ: A married woman from Phoolpur, along with her lover, created a false story of robbery at her own house—but the plan backfired. After lodging an FIR for robbery, she planned to later elope with her lover with jewelry worth ₹18 lakh.

However, during the police investigation, the jewelry was recovered from inside the house itself. On strict interrogation, the truth came out. The police arrested the woman and her lover on Friday and sent them to jail.

Details of the Case

DCP Gangangar, Kuldeep Singh Gunawat, stated that Mohammad Shahid, a transporter from Virkaji village in Phoolpur, often stays in Kanpur for work. At home, he lives with his wife Afreen Fatima and their two minor daughters.

On September 22, Afreen Fatima informed police that, on the night of September 21, two thieves entered the house, held a knife to her neck, and escaped with gold and silver jewelry.

The Phoolpur police registered an FIR and began the investigation, but soon discovered that the robbery story was false.

In reality, Afreen had been having an affair for about one and a half years with Mohammad Shahnawaz, a resident of Usmapur Walipur under the jurisdiction of Uttarav police station.

Together, they fabricated the robbery story and lodged the FIR. Afreen planned that once the matter cooled down, she would take the jewelry and run away with Shahnawaz to marry him.

How the Truth Came Out

The police surveillance team examined Afreen Fatima’s mobile call records and found that on the night of the alleged robbery, she had spoken multiple times with her lover, Shahnawaz. Based on a tip-off from an informer, the police arrested him near Mahuliya Chauraha.

Separate Case: Neighboring Shopkeeper Accused of Rape

Prayagraj: A case of rape has come to light in the Civil Lines area, where a woman has accused a neighboring shopkeeper of assaulting her under the pretext of helping. A case has been registered, and police have begun investigating.

The victim, a 36-year-old woman originally from Kaushambi, runs a tea shop near the High Court in Prayagraj and often sleeps there at night. Her neighbor, Ravi Keserwani of Khuldabad, runs a chaat stall nearby.

According to the woman’s statement to police, about 15 days ago, she developed a fever at night. Ravi took her to a doctor for medication, but later forced her into his workshop, where he allegedly raped her. She further claimed that he threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident.

Inspector-in-Charge of Civil Lines, Ramashray Yadav, confirmed that an FIR has been lodged and that police are searching for the accused. He assured that the culprit will be arrested soon.
