Yash Dayal Booked Under POCSO Act in New Rape Case

Troubling new allegations have emerged against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal, who is now facing a police complaint in Jaipur for sexual harassment and rape.

A 19-year-old aspiring cricketer has accused Dayal of luring her with promises of a cricketing career before allegedly raping her, as reported by NDTV.

According to the complaint, the first alleged incident occurred when the girl was just 17 at a hotel in Sitapura, Jaipur.

The First Information Report (FIR) was officially lodged on July 23, with charges filed under relevant sections for rape as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The complainant claims that Dayal sexually assaulted her multiple times over two years, during which he allegedly manipulated her emotionally and consistently assured her of his help in advancing her cricket career.

The woman informed the police that her initial contact with Dayal was approximately two years ago, according to The Indian Express.

Previous Legal Troubles and High Court Intervention

This isn’t the first time Dayal has been embroiled in legal difficulties. He was previously booked in a separate sexual assault case following a complaint by a woman from Ghaziabad.

This earlier complaint was submitted on June 21 through the Uttar Pradesh chief minister’s online grievance portal.  In that instance, the woman alleged she had been in a five-year relationship with the cricketer and accused him of abuse and deception.

The first FIR against the 27-year-old pacer was registered on July 6 at the Indirapuram police station in Ghaziabad. The charges were filed under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which addresses sexual intercourse obtained by deceitful means.

The complainant in the Ghaziabad case claimed that Dayal had sexually exploited her under the pretext of marriage.

However, the Allahabad High Court has since issued a stay on Dayal’s arrest in connection with the Ghaziabad case.

A bench comprising Justices Siddhartha Varma and Anil Kumar passed this order after Dayal filed a petition challenging the FIR. The court has directed the state counsel to file a counter-affidavit and also issued a notice to the complainant, requesting her to file her counter-affidavit in the matter.

Dayal’s counsel argued that an offense under Section 69 of the BNS can only be established if it is proven that the accused made a promise of marriage without any genuine intention of fulfilling it. Dayal had sought both a stay on his arrest and the quashing of the FIR.

The complainant in the Ghaziabad case stated that she and Dayal had met about five years ago and alleged that he repeatedly delayed their marriage proposal.

She eventually discovered he was involved with other women, which prompted her to file the initial complaint via the chief minister’s online grievance redressal system

As of now, Yash Dayal, who is a prominent player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League, has not released any public statement regarding these serious allegations.
