Yogi Adityanath at HT Summit: “Ram Temple a Historic Milestone; Kashi–Mathura Next in the Vision of Cultural Renaissance”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that the construction of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya is one of the most memorable accomplishments in centuries, and a defining moment in India’s cultural history.

Speaking about the state’s progress and future vision, he emphasised that it is difficult to select a single achievement from the long list, but the Ram Temple stands out as a milestone being realized after 500 years.

Responding to a question regarding future plans after Ayodhya—specifically Kashi and Mathura—Yogi remarked, “We will reach everywhere—and we already have.”

He referenced the popular slogan from the Ayodhya movement era—“Abhi Ayodhya ki baari hai, Kashi Mathura baaki hai”—and noted that every society must hold pride in its heritage.

The movements initiated in this direction, he said, represent a collective cultural awakening. The Supreme Court’s verdict based on facts and evidence was a victory for democracy, and the nation accepted it with unity, he added.

Reflecting on the transformation in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi said that earlier, December 6 was seen as a day of tension and restrictions resembling curfew-like conditions, but today peace and harmony prevail.

He asserted that Uttar Pradesh will play a crucial role in the mission of building a developed India. By 2047, the state aims to become a six-trillion-dollar economy, significantly contributing to the national vision.

He highlighted major infrastructure achievements, recalling that when he took charge, the state had only one fully completed expressway and one partially completed one.

Today, Uttar Pradesh accounts for 55% of India’s total expressway network. In the next two months, the country’s largest airport will open in Jewar (Noida).

From just two operational airports before 2017, the state now has 16 functioning airports, along with the largest rail and metro network.

Law, Order, and Women’s Safety

Addressing questions on law enforcement, bulldozer action and encounter policies, Yogi stated that elements who act as a burden on society are dealt with strictly.

“Those who dare to threaten women’s safety will meet Yama (the god of justice) at the next intersection,” he remarked, stressing that society demands justice.

Uttar Pradesh, once associated with mafia dominance, has transitioned to a state of One District–One Product, One District–One Medical College.

Roadmap for 2027 Elections

He noted that after successfully completing five years in government and securing a second term with a strong majority in 2022, preparations are now underway for victory in 2027.

Connectivity and Urban Development

Yogi said every district headquarters in the state is now connected via four-lane highways, with tehsil and block headquarters connected by two- or four-lane roads.

The state’s first rapid rail network now links Meerut, while waterway transport between Varanasi and Haldia has been launched.

Urbanisation, which was only 22–23% in 2017, has now increased to 26% and will accelerate further in the next three years.

Housing projects have expanded with increased FAR benefits and simplified regulations to improve residential facilities.

Women Empowerment

The Chief Minister highlighted efforts toward strengthening women’s participation. From birth through higher education, comprehensive support packages are provided to girls.

Financial assistance of ₹1 lakh is provided for marriage, ensuring dignity and equal opportunity for half of the population.
