Yogi Adityanath Vows Stern Action Against Those Who ‘Sinned Against Sambhal’, Announces Major Heritage Revival Plans

Sambhal, a district steeped in centuries of spiritual heritage, was declared a sacred symbol of Hindu faith by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday, as he launched a scathing attack on both historical foreign invaders and present-day political rivals — the Congress and Samajwadi Party.

Visiting the district to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 222 development projects worth ₹659 crore, CM Yogi made it clear that his mission was not merely about roads and buildings, but about restoring Sambhal’s lost glory.

A Land with a Sacred Legacy

Once home to 68 pilgrimage sites, 19 sacred wells, and the traditional 24- and 84-kos parikrama routes, Sambhal holds deep significance in Sanatan Dharma. It is revered as the land of both Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Har (Lord Shiva), and is prophesied in scriptures such as the Shrimad Bhagavat, Skanda Purana, and Vishnu Purana as the birthplace of Lord Kalki, the tenth avatar of Vishnu, who will appear in the Kali Yuga.

However, CM Yogi reminded the crowd that this rich heritage was not always respected. He accused foreign invaders of desecrating and destroying holy sites, taking over temple lands, and making “deliberate attempts to erase the truth of Sambhal’s sanctity.”

“This was no accident,” he said. “It was a malicious conspiracy to wipe out a civilization’s spiritual roots.”

Historical Parallels and a Pledge for Revival

Drawing parallels with Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, who revived sacred shrines like Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath temples centuries ago, CM Yogi vowed to lead a similar renaissance in Sambhal.

“All 68 pilgrimage sites and 19 sacred wells will be restored,” he promised, “because true development lies in preserving our legacy while shaping the golden dreams of today and tomorrow.”

Taking Aim at Political Rivals

The Chief Minister accused the Congress of “orchestrating mass killings” in Sambhal after Independence and charged the Samajwadi Party with shielding the perpetrators.

“They hid the truth of the massacres for fear of losing their vote bank,” he alleged. “We are not here for vote bank politics. We are here to preserve our heritage. Those who shame India and its values will be taught a lesson that their future generations won’t forget.”

He also condemned the previous regimes for allowing riots, lawlessness, and mafia dominance. “Earlier, girls were not safe, and traders were not safe. Today, every citizen is secure — except rioters. Mahakal is delivering justice,” Yogi declared.

Development with Security and Cultural Pride

Emphasising that the double-engine government is committed to both development and heritage, Yogi highlighted the transformation from “one mafia per district” under past governments to “One District, One Product” under his administration.

He praised the resilience of Sambhal’s people, who “faced riots with courage and never bowed down.”

Symbolic Acts for a Sacred Cause

During his visit, CM Yogi also inspected recently unearthed archaeological artifacts in Sambhal, viewing them as tangible proof of the district’s ancient grandeur. He concluded his trip by planting saplings, linking heritage revival with environmental responsibility.

His warning was unmistakable — “Those who sinned against Sambhal will face punishment. Those trying to hinder Sambhal’s development will pay the price. And those who desecrate the holy sites of Sanatan Dharma will also pay the price.”
