The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to shut down 513 Madarsas in the state.
This extreme step was being taken in view of disruptive and illegal activities taking place in these madarsas in the garb of Islamic education.
The managements of these madarsas gave also raised their hands.
Besides, government is also working to close down 8,449 madarsas that had been operating without recognition from the government. Sources said, there were 16, 513 recognised madarsas functioning in the state.
