Tension Grips Amethi Village After Murder of Dalit Labourer; Police Investigate Old Dispute as Motive
A pall of tension descended upon Kalyanpur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district on Tuesday following the brutal killing of a 32-year-old Dalit man, identified by authorities as Shivam Kumar.
The deceased, a daily wage labourer by profession, was discovered in a severely injured state near a poultry farm located on the outskirts of the village. According to police sources, the wounds inflicted on him were caused by a sharp-edged weapon, suggesting a deliberate and violent attack.
The incident has triggered unrest in the village, prompting law enforcement to deploy a heavy police force in and around the area to maintain peace and prevent the situation from escalating.
Security personnel have been stationed strategically throughout Kalyanpur, especially near the location where Kumar was found, to deter any potential retaliation or disruption.
Shivam Kumar was found on Monday evening lying in a pool of blood by residents, who immediately alerted the authorities.
A police team reached the site promptly and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he was declared dead on arrival by the attending medical staff.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, Chottelal, the police have registered a case of murder. The First Information Report (FIR) names two local individuals—Vikas Yadav and Man Singh—as primary suspects.
Two other unidentified persons are also listed as co-accused in the case. Investigating officers have begun questioning those named in the FIR, and further inquiries are ongoing.
According to Vinod Kumar Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jamon police station, the murder appears to be the result of an ongoing personal conflict.
“Our initial probe indicates that there was a long-standing dispute between Shivam Kumar and the accused parties, possibly linked to a previous relationship-related issue,” he stated. The nature of this dispute and how it escalated to such violence is currently being explored.
The police revealed that Shivam had left his house on Monday afternoon, informing his family that he was going to visit the poultry farm. When he failed to return home by evening, his family members grew anxious and began searching for him.
It was during this search that local villagers stumbled upon his bloodied body in a field adjacent to the poultry area.
Adding a grim detail to the discovery, officers mentioned that a liquor bottle was recovered from the scene, although it is yet to be determined whether it is directly connected to the crime or merely coincidental. Forensic analysis is expected to shed more light on this piece of evidence.
Shivam Kumar had been married just a year ago and was known in the village for his hardworking nature. His sudden and violent death has left his family devastated and the village community in shock.
Community leaders have called for swift justice, urging the administration to ensure that the culprits are brought to book without delay.
As investigations continue, authorities have assured the public that all possible angles will be examined thoroughly and justice will be served.
Meanwhile, police presence remains heightened in the region, with officers keeping a close watch to maintain law and order.
